RNaid^® Spin Kit

The RNaid SPIN Kit contains the same components as the RNaid Kit, with the addition of SPIN Modules. The latter, which have become increasingly popular among the users of all of our DNA and RNA isolation kits, allow the RNA and silica to be separated by spinning in the Spin Filter without carryover of the very fine particles of the RNA Matrix into the purified RNA solution. This enhances the ease of purification and improves the purity and optical properties of the isolated RNA.

The protocol, in brief:

1. Excise RNA band from gel.
2. Add RNA Binding Salt to melt gel slice.
3. Bind RNA to RNAMATRIX.
4. Wash contaminants from RNA/matrix complex.
5. Add DEPC-treated water to release RNA from matrix and separate in Spin Filter.

Total RNA isolated from fresh leaf tissue was purified with RNaid with SPIN from solution and from a non-denaturing agarose gel. The RNA purified from solution is shown in the right two lanes and that from gel in the left two lanes
