RNaid^® Plus Kit

The RNaid Plus Kit is a fast, convenient means of isolating total RNA from cells and tissues. The kit contains all the reagents present in The RNaid Kit with the addition of cell lysis and extraction reagents. The kit is sufficient for 15 preparations of total RNA from 1 g of tissue or 10⁸ tissue culture cells yielding 100 to 600 µg of RNA per prep, depending on the source. The procedure can be scaled up or down. After the initial lysis and extraction steps, the method closely follows the RNaid Kit protocol for isolation of RNA from solution. The one hour protocol, in brief:

1. Cells or tissue are disrupted in lysing solution, with exact procedure depending on source.
2. Acid phenol extraction of lysate.
3. The upper phase is re-extracted with chloroform/isoamyl alcohol.
4. RNAMATRIX is added to bind RNA and the matrix/RNA complex is washed twice.
5. Purified RNA is eluted from RNAMATRIX with DEPC-treated water.
