G-NOME^® DNA Whole Blood Kit

This kit is a version of The G-Nome^® DNA Isolation Kit modified so that it can be used to isolate DNA from whole blood. Up to 100 µg of DNA can be isolated from 2 ml of whole blood in 2-3 hours without the use of organic extractions.

A brief outline of the protocol:

1. Centrifuge and wash blood cells with Ace Blood Solution to obtain a white nuclear pellet.
2. Lyse nuclei in the presence of RNase.
3. Incubate with protease.
4. Precipitate digested proteins and other debris by a proprietary "salting out" procedure, followed by centrifugation.
5. Addition of ethanol to supernatant precipitates DNA which is pelleted by centrifugation. The DNA is immediately ready to use in enzyme reactions for RFLP or PCR.

The kit comes in three sizes suitable for 10, 25, or 100 preparations starting with 2 ml of blood. The procedure can be scaled up or down which will modify the number of preps/kit.
