Incorporated into several of our isolation and purification kits, SPIN Modules are designed for optimal performance, providing the purest DNA faster than ever, and with no matrix carry-over.
SPIN Filters are finding increasing application in molecular biology for their ability to separate particles from solutions in a few seconds. They achieve much faster and cleaner separations than traditional methods such as columns, filters, or simple centrifugation. When used with the GENECLEAN® or MERmaid® protocols, they combine the speed, efficiency, and selectivity of the GLASSMILK® binding reaction with an even more rapid execution of the separation, washing, and elution steps. The total time for purification of DNA bands from gels can be shortened to just 15 minutes.
From binding reaction to elution, all steps are carried out in the SPIN Modules, which quickly concentrate the GLASSMILK®/DNA complex while allowing the liquid, which contains unbound contaminants, to filter into a small catch tube. This obviates the need to repeatedly pellet and resuspend the GLASSMILK® in order to wash it.
Furthermore, because of the special charged filter material that binds contaminants, subsequent elution of the DNA from the GLASSMILK® by SPIN Modules produces the cleanest DNA, while ensuring that not even a trace of GLASSMILK® particles are carried over into the eluted DNA. While GLASSMILK® does not affect most common reactions involving DNA, its presence can affect A260/280 readings.
